Longford is plumb in the centre of Ireland - if you have a cardboard cut-out map of the island and stick a pin in Longford, it will spin evenly and stop in any position!

We are a voluntary organisation providing services for anyone not able to do certain things for themselves, especially shopping and cooking. We deliver meals for every day of the week, and also have a chiropody service. We have a shop which sells high-quality pre-owned clothes and generates an income.
We deliver meals to the door - meals for 7 days every week of the year. Each of our clients receives 2 freshly prepared and cooked, chilled meals every Monday and Wednesday, and 3 every Friday, which they reheat in their microwave and eat whenever they are ready.
Meals consist of, typically, home-made vegetable soup, a main course and a dessert. Main courses are varied and contain balanced nutritional content. A typical meal will have meat (chicken, turkey, lamb, bacon, beef or fish) with two vegetables (such as cabbage, carrot, broccoli, swede) and potatoes (boiled or mashed) with gravy, sauce or stuffing as appropriate. The dessert may be a milk pudding (such as rice, tapioca, semolina), custard with fruit or jelly with fruit or my own favourite trifle with fresh cream.
I am writing this blog to let you know we have a caring community in our small town - we like to help look after people. We are also welcoming, with the highest rate of immigration for a town like this in Ireland! If you would like to support us, email and let us know - we haven't a PayPal account yet for donations, but we do collect on the street and will be looking for more funding ...
